Family Owned Flooring Business Since 1947
Hiller’s Flooring America is one of two divisions of Hiller’s Stores Inc., established in 1947 in Iowa. The family owned business later moved to Minnesota and continues to be the trusted source for flooring needs in the Rochester area.
Hiller’s Flooring America's is owned by Rob Elder and his son, Joe Elder, and serves residential customers searching for flooring products and window treatments, whether it’s for new home construction or remodeling projects. Hiller’s Commercial Floors, owned by Dave Bahr and his son, Max Bahr, focuses on commercial clients.

Hiller’s has been part of Joe’s life since he was a little kid. He started as a seasonal employee when he was 15. He has been working full time at Hiller’s since 2003. Joe approaches his job with technology on his mind at all times. He is looking to take Hiller’s to the next generation when it comes to that technology. He isn’t on the sales floor often, but when he is, he is very helpful. When Joe is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Lindsey, and their two daughters, Aria and Ava, as well as their pets. So, he knows all about the right floors for homes with kids and pets.
Rob is a Rochester native who lives with his wife and three kids. He spent 11 years in Phoenix after high school before returning to Rochester in 2016. Upon returning to Rochester, Rob did commercial flooring installation for a year for Hiller Commercial Flooring as a sub-contractor. When a sales position became available, he realized it would be a better fit for not only his personality, but also his family. He recently completed a nationally recognized sales training course, which has added even more knowledge to what he already had for installing flooring. Most of the time away from work is spent watching hockey and baseball games or his kids’ activities. He loves being outdoors golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with friends and family. Rob was recently promoted to General Manager.
eff has been with Hiller’s for 20 years in sales and is our Sales Manager, as well as our Window Coverings Manager. Born and raised in Rochester, Jeff spends time outside of work with his family, especially his children, Jake and Jackie. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, going to sporting events, and is very involved with the Rochester community. He’s served nine years on the Rochester Area Builders Home Show Committee and is the co-chair of the event. Jeff prides himself on continuing education to stay on top of the newest trends in residential, new home, and commercial projects.
Gary was born in Southwest Missouri and moved to Southeast Minnesota at the age of 12 and has made his home and raised his family in our area, currently living in rural St. Charles. He has been with Hiller’s for 19 years in sales and marketing and now as the Sales Manager. He’s been in the flooring industry for almost 30 years, previously at the Tile Shop of Rochester and stores throughout the Twin Cities area. His years of experience have helped him become an in-house expert.
With over 30 years of design experience, Susan brings her creativity and expertise to our store and to you, our valued customers. Susan can assist you with any phase of the design process with the ability to understand and balance your vision and lifestyle. Brian has lived in the Rochester area his whole life and has been with Hiller’s for almost 30 years. He started out in installation, then worked in the warehouse, and is now working in sales. He knows the flooring business inside and out and from every angle. Go ahead, TRY to stump him! Brian is an avid sports fan and former Rochester Giants coach. When he isn’t helping people find their ideal flooring, he can be found following local sports or hiking on local trails.
Cris is a wonderful example of Hiller’s being a family business. Following in his father’s footsteps, Cris has been working at Hiller’s in some capacity since he was 16 years old.
Carrie was born in Minnesota and has been selling flooring for nearly 20 years. She is the recipient of several awards for customer satisfaction and has advanced training in flooring installation. This provides Carrie with unique insight and an ability to see the solution to your needs. Her inventiveness also creates an enjoyable shopping experience by narrowing down the enormous selection of vinyl, wood, tile, and carpet to what is ideal for your home. Carrie is dedicated to making your vision happen.
Dan is a Rochester native who now lives nearby in Byron. He has a total of 13 years of sales experience and has a knack for customer satisfaction. He Spent many years selling shoes at the iconic O&B Shoes downtown. After that he spent a few years on the road traveling selling hard cider and wine in a 4 state region, really getting to know people from many different walks of life and backgrounds. His hobbies include but are not limited to: Fishing, Hunting, Snowboarding, Gardening, and spending as much time as possible with his family. Dan’s number one goal is to enable people to buy as opposed to selling to them.
Elizabeth has been in the flooring industry since 1986. When she moved to Rochester from the Twin Cities, she decided to make Hiller’s Flooring America her home. Hiller’s reputation for elite installation and top customer service was exactly what she values. She has worked with top builders and designers in the Twin Cities for over 20 years and values long-term relationships with her customers. Her love for people, her knowledge of the industry, her eye for details, and her joy in helping others has made her very successful in the flooring industry. When she is not at Hiller’s, she is a full-time college student, an associate pastor and a worship leader. She enjoys being with her husband, her children, and her friends. Elizabeth also works with foreign missions and devotes much of her energy to helping those in need.
Riley is a local guy that grew up in Byron and now lives in Chatfield. He followed in his dad and uncle’s footsteps by working in the flooring industry. He started at age 16 as a delivery driver and laborer for Hiller’s commercial flooring during his summers off from school. For the last 10 years he has been installing commercial and residential flooring alongside his family as a subcontractor for Hiller’s. Over the last 15 years he’s gained valuable knowledge and experience from installation process to finding a product that matches the customer’s needs.
When Riley is not at work he’s kept busy by his wife and two children. In his free time he can be found outside enjoying nature while hiking with his family and pets, hunting, and perfecting his lawn.
Tim has been with Hiller’s for 19 years in the customer service department. He is now the Customer Service Manager. He also handles all the warranty claims and helps in sales when needed. He enjoys working with people and takes pride in customer service and solving issues that come up. Tim is happily married to his wife of 23 years, Stephanie. He has two sons, Eric, and stepson Rick. He also has two granddaughters, Madyson and Rylee. When he gets time, he enjoys hunting and fishing, along with boating on the Mississippi River. In the winter, he enjoys his time on his snowmobile. He enjoys Minnesota football, hockey, and baseball.
Kyle was in sales at Hiller's from 1994-2010. He has rejoined the team in late 2021 as a customer service assistant / developer. He looks forward to helping existing and new customers needs in a timely matter.
